Child protection issues are a key focus of World Vision Bangladesh. A demand rose from the community about how media could highlight child protection issues to stakeholders and policy makers.

On step taken by World Vision Bangladesh was to start a media partnership with leading Bengali daily newspaper Prothom Alo.

In a joint effort, World Vision and Prothom Alo organized several training workshops for print media journalists on reporting about child protection issues. Around 200 journalists received training on child protection issue in Barishal, Khulna and Dhaka division.

After the successful completion of the workshops and training sessions, participants were encouraged to write report on child rights and child protection issues.

Journalists worked on publishing work related to revealing the real situation of child protection in our country over the last year which also succeeded to grab attention of the policy makers.

To celebrate and acknowlege their efforts, an award for the best reporting was devised. Journalists were asked to submit their published reports on child protection to Prothom Alo for evaluation. An impartial jury board selected the winners.

We hope this recognition and award will encourage outstanding reporters to work further on writing investigative reports on child protection which can bring a positive change in our society.
