World Vision Bangladesh at the 12th International Conference on Urban Health

The 12th International Conference on Urban Health (ICUH) was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 24-27 May, 201, signaling awareness of the growing challenges to urban health in Asia nations and throughout the developing world.

Scientists, academics, researchers, activists, practitioners, policy makers and community organizations took part in discussions on different urban health issues in different social, geographical and political settings. ICUH 2015 emphasized inclusion of urban health priorities in the post-2015 development agenda.  More, the conference aimed at exchanging ideas, advancing research and practice that promote urban health as well as identifies the health needs of the urban poor in Bangladesh.

International Society for Urban Health Forum, Urban Health Network Bangladesh and Eminence Associates for Social Development jointly organized the program.

A total of 8 plenary sessions, including a number of breakout sessions, and special sessions were held at the conference.

World Vision Bangladesh as a key contributor of urban and rural health in Bangladesh contributed significantly to the success of the conference. World Vision set up a stall decorated with different promotional materials to present good practices related to urban health, particularly on PD/hearth, urban WASH and health program.

The presentation gave a clearer picture about the current status of good urban health behavior; provisions for incentives and challenges to increase its proper practice.

World Vision’s presence at the conference was vibrant and the audiences from different nations and backgrounds showed an interest to learn more about the World Vision’s program outcomes.

It was a great opportunity for World Vision to meet representatives from different professional forums, learn about urban health issues from different parts of the globe, and improve its knowledge base. This in turn, will help World Vision to widen and strengthen its network and programs to promote
