Monday, May 12, 2014

Children across the globe lack access to improved health and education systems, other face violence, abandonment, exploitation or exclusion on a regular basis.

One of the ways these issues are addressed at World Vision is through Advocacy, which advances government reforms and changes social practices through citizen empowerment and mobilization.

In order to increase and improve the advocacy work across World Vision’s work in the Middle East and Eastern Europe region, a new e-learning platform, Advocacy e-lab was recently launched, providing practitioners of and those interested in advancing children’s rights a set of self-paced online modules on specific topics, including:

  • Introduction to Advocacy
  • Coalition Building
  • Policy & Government Engagement
  • Child & Youth Participation
  • Communication for Advocacy
  • Local Level Advocacy
  • Advocacy in Emergencies
  • Measuring Impact of Advocacy

This is the optimal learning space to equip World Vision staff and partners to:

  • Empower coalitions, communities and youth
  • Campaign for improved public services
  • Advance government reforms for scaled, sustained, national impact
  • Embed or incorporate Advocacy into programmes

The Advocacy e-lab is designed to build personal and professional capacity through practical tools and trainings using participative learning, self-testing and coaching.

We believe that children’s lives can be radically improved if governments are encouraged to adopt and implement proper child protection systems and services. For this reason, World Vision is leveraging its programmes, partners and governmental goodwill for practical reforms and through this tool hopes to expand the number of staff involved in advocacy-related activities.
