Cilincing children forum transformed me

Friday, March 20, 2015

Hello friends! Let me introduce myself, I am Fajar Pratama, from the tip of Jakarta that is Cilincing, North Jakarta district. Born in a happy family, I am the first of three siblings. I have two younger brothers and I love them. Many people say that the place where I live is very bad and there are many social problems like child workers, polluted rivers, and polluted air. However, I am glad to live in the place that is filled with diversity.

According to me, there is a positive thing that people do not know about Cilincing like the presence of Cilincing Children Forum as a place to channel Cilincing children's aspiration to realise their rights. I joined the activity in the forum accompanied by Wahana Visi Indonesia when I was in the third year of junior high school. I was even selected as chairman of the forum 2013-2014.

There are a lot of thing we do together like cleaning the town park, organizing a competition to paint 100 garbage cans, and holding the Cilincing Children Festival. The actions were held as proof of the Children Forum's care for Cilincing's children and at the same time as a way to encourage many sides to help realise North Jakarta as a child friendly city.

We also discussed a plan to prepare a model of how to supervise the Community Based Children Forum. The model is called CINTA: standing for Cinta (Love), Inovatif (Inovative), Nasionalis (Nationalist), Tanggung jawab (be Responsible, Akhlak mulia (glorious morals).
Part of our activities in the children forum are supported by Heart Project, a project that was financed by World Vision Korea.
