Learning entrepreneurship to reach a dream

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Studying at the university is not the only way to reach a dream. For those who don't have the opportunity, there are many ways to achieve a dream.

Wahana Visi Indonesia's (WVI) Penjaringan Operational Office equips teenagers with knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship so that they have another choice to achieve their dream. WVI introduces business education by organising seminars, entrepreneurship training, business competitions, and monitoring.

One of the training action plans is preparing a business proposal, individually or in group. The proposal that meets the criteria will yield a business incentive.

Nuraeni, 14, is one of the teenagers joining the entrepreneurship training. She and other 24 participants learn how to process fresh catfish into crispy catfish, chips of catfish bone, catfish brochettes, and shredded catfish that has been boiled and fried. The participants are also trained how to sell.

Although there are people who don't buy from Nuraeni and her colleagues, they don't give up but keep offering their products to other families.

Meanwhile Abi Auni Krisandianto, 17, a senior high school student, who also joined the training, says that learning how to sell has made him aware of the difficulty to earn money, so he will be more careful in spending money.

Parents of Nuraeni and Abi support their children to follow WVI's activities.

"I am very happy. Learning entrepreneurship has given him positive value," says Nuryanti, mother of Abi.
