Launched: World Vision Kenya Strategy 2016-2020

Nairobi June 8th, 2015- World Vision Kenya launched its Financial year 2016-2020 strategy at the National office based in Karen, Nairobi Kenya. The WV Kenya National Director Dickens Thunde led the leadership team and staff at the launch held at Professor Mlay hall and streamed live via digital platform webex to over 1200 World Vision staff  in 53 Area Development Programmes (ADPs) in Kenya. All staff posted questions with regards to the strategy directed to the leadership team and getting immediate response. The strategic objectives were explained in detail during the forum. 

“The strategy is about empowering, equipping while advocating for children and communities to have dignified life and transform them from deplorable conditions”, said World Vision Kenya National Director Mr. Thunde.

 The strategy has four objectives:-

  • Improved livelihood and resilience,
  • Improved protection, access and quality education for children
  •  Improved health status for children and their families.
  • Organizational effectiveness that involves funding, and donor relations, internal process and partnership at national and local levels.

World Vision Kenya Quality Assurance Director Teresia Njoki said the team that compiled and developed the strategy, put in place measures that address the youth, households and communities for enhanced child well-being.The child is the main focus of the strategy development.

 

“Children do not live in isolation. They live in Households so we have to change from community reach to household reach in order to have an impact that the strategy aims at.” remarked Mr. Thunde.

 WV Kenya strategy has been recognized as one of the best in the region. As National Director Dickens Thunde stated, there is power in the strategy and we want to embrace it as we focus more to improve our work. WV Kenya board and the East African Region have approved the strategy. 

Learning Through Evaluation,Accountability and Planning version three (LEAP 3) task force that is cross functional has been formed to spearhead the roll out plan .It was commissioned by National Director at the launch of the strategy. The LEAP 3 is expected to guide the organization into synchronizing the operations of the sectors (health, education, improved livelihood and resilience and WASH-Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) to ensure adjustments are taken into account with the WV Kenya strategy 2016-2020.

 “The most important aspect is to look what WV Kenya is implementing in the Area Development Program (ADPs) is aligned to our National Strategy.’ said Mr. Thunde.
