Team World Vision Kenya has been awarded as the Top Corporate Fundraiser, during the Stanchart marathon held in October 26th 2014. That means it is one of the corporate team of runners that raised the most funds, that amounts to over Kshs 500,000 towards the main Stanchart marathon cause of preventing or fighting against preventable blindness among children, dubbed “Wild about Vision”.

World Vision Kenya National Director Dickens Thunde with the Leadership team from the Global Center and Regional office received the award from WV Kenya Senior Donor liaison officer and leader of Team WV Justus Koech. The group thanked Standard Chartered Bank for their kind gesture in recognising efforts put in by members of team WV.

“I urge the Standard Chartered Bank to join in our efforts to support the cause of child well being spearheaded by World Vision in Kenya in our communities” says Dickens Thunde, WV Kenya National Director.

In 2010, Team World Vision debut at the Stanchart Nairobi Marathon with about 95 runners, the next year about 115 runners, were registered. From 2012 to 2014  the number increased to 200 runners. So far over the past five years, Team WV has raised approximately Kshs 1.5 million for the standard chartered marathon cause.

Team WV Kenya registered over 200 runners during the 2014 stanchart marathon that now has a double edged cause, contributing towards Stanchart Cause and also raising funds for Child Medical kitty, to support some of the vulnerable children in the 37 Area Development Programs(ADP’s) in Kenya.
