Price Shocks: Economic gains masking a growing hunger and malnutrition crisis
World Vision's annual price survey analyses global food prices over the past three years. This Price Shocks report is a continuation of our 2021 and 2022 studies with findings showing a slight dip in the highest costs of living for some while others remain at previously marked crisis levels. This year's findings continue to underscore the uneven recovery from the socioeconomic shocks from COVID-19, inflation, and extreme weather and indicates a disparity of food prices, both in the current cost of the basket of 10 common food items and in the year-on-year comparisons. We provide insight into the year-on-year changes and share recommendations on mitigation for various audiences.

World Vision Zambia Gifts In Kind (GIK) to use innovative mobile tracking technology to manage resources
Last Mile Mobile Solution (LMMS) is a technology solution that was developed by World Vision in collaboration with the Information Technology (IT) industry in 2008. Basically, it is designed to strengthen efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability in humanitarian service delivery.
To improve the management of Gifts In Kind (GIK) resources, World Vision Zambia recently held a Last Mile Mobile Solution (LMMS) training for field office Gifts In Kind (GIK) users to effectively utilize the Item Tracking System module for GIK programming and local procurements, both for Area Programmes s and Projects.

User Fees and Insurance Cover Significantly Reduce Downtime of Water Supply Systems
World Vision Zambia supported the communities in putting in place systems that would promote the sustainability of water supply systems. These systems include monetary contributions for the maintenance of the facilities and cover insurance premiums. In the event of damage or theft to significant components, communities would not face a long period of downtime without accessing water. Some of the approaches used are highlighted in the subsequent sections.
This Technical Brief highlights key processes followed to achieve sustained water access among communities and critical outcomes of insuring 40 water supply facilities in 8 districts. The brief also highlights challenges experienced and shows opportunities in implementing such a project.
