Girls in Shree Mahakali Secondary School in a remote village of Sindhuli district which falls in the central region of Nepal enjoy a game of skipping organised by the school's child club during their holidays.

The school child club, formed with the help of World Vision, takes the responsibility of extra-curricular activities for students besides being involved in community development and working as agents of change. World Vision has also supported the child club with education and play materials for indoor and outdoor games. Training on child rights and life skills have also been provided to children.

Yudisthir Nepali,15, president of the school child club says, “I come from a Dalit family and getting the opportunity to lead this child club has raised my self-esteem. My friends and I have learnt a lot about child rights. We have also worked with a community child club to improve the foot trails to our school for children who live far off and have difficulties walking to school."

In 2014, World Vision formed 40 child clubs in eight Village Development Committees of Sindhuli. These clubs give children an opportunity to build networks and bring positive change in their environment. Thirteen of those child clubs are now affiliated to the District Child Welfare Board.
