Orientation on Maternal Health, Jumla

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Women in Jumla District attend an orientation class on maternal health.

World Vision has been organising activities for Female Community Health Volunteers and mothers to orient them on the importance of safe and healthy pregnancy, antenatal/postnatal check-ups (ANC/PNC) and safe delivery in Jumla. Women have been familiarised with nutritional diet and the importance of intake of healthy food and micronutrients such as iron, folic acid and Vitamin A during pregnancy. Orientations are also conducted for husbands and other family members on special needs during pregnancy and lactating period like improved diet, care and rest.

To encourage women, award distribution events were organised in 5 Village Development Committees, where pregnant women who completed four ANCs, received two doses of TT vaccine and one dose of albendazole were recognised.
