Pakistan has been facing substantial shortages in the power sector and the province of Punjab is no exception. In Punjab, at present, there is a demand-supply gap of about 4000 MW which is increasing at a rate of 6% per annum. Punjab with 68% of the consumption of generated power and gas is worst affected and has to endure both power and gas load shedding with adverse social and economic consequences. Keeping in view the need of equipping health facilitates with sustained power supply and enable them serve local communities more efficiently, World Vision Pakistan has agreed with the department of health in Lahore district and LG Electronics to equip one Rural Health Center Mangay Wala, District Lahore, with Single phase pure sine wave AC output Hybrid System of 10 KVa for uninterrupted power supply. The proposed health center has average OPD of 300 to 400 patients per day and expected to benefit them directly. Total Cost of the Project is Approx. 5 Million Pak Rupees.
World Vision International - Pakistan’s Country Strategy FY15-17 uses an integrated approach to improving the lives of children (boy and girls) and their families in target operational areas, including Punjab Province. Though the proposed interventions of solar powered heath centres and support of LG Electronics, WVP would be contributing to its child wellbeing aspiration related to health i.e. “Children Enjoy Good Health”.
Inauguration ceremony of World Vision and LG Solar Powered health Facility (RHC Manga Mandi) was held on February 23, 2017. Mr. Kevin Cha (LG MEA Regional CEO) and Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary (CEO District Health Authority) were the chief guest & Mr. Y.G. Choi (LG Gulf President) Dr. M. Saeed Akhtar Ghuman (District Officer Health) was the guest of honours.
Mr. Rizwan ul Haq (PDQ Manager) and Mr. Aurngzeb Khan (Operations Manager) participated from World Vision International – Pakistan.
During the ceremony MoU document was signed between WVP and district Health Authority, detailing the solar power installation equipment’s and accessories for handing over the Solar equipment to District Government.
