Disaster simulations: helping communities prepare for emergencies

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Six communities in north eastern Guadalcanal province, Solomon Islands participated in flood simulations to help them better prepare for future emergencies. These communities, including the smallest of the communities, Tetupa, are particularly prone to flooding. The simulation was supported by the World Vision Solomon Islands Humanitarian Partnership Agreement project staff and Red Cross Solomon Island staff.

In Tetupa, more than 150 people and seven representatives from World Vision Solomon Islands and the Red Cross, together with the Village Disaster Risk Committee, took part in the simulation.
