“I was worried for my daughter’s health and was totally unaware of the cause of her malnutrition. I did not have any idea of the importance of nutrition in her lifer” Kadijo Mohamed Ali

Kadijo Mohamed Ali, is mother to 13 month old Suado Isaack Aden. They live in Waberi village of Luuq district in Southern Somalia. Suado was suffering from malnutrition yet her mother didn’t know the cause.

Kadijo took her daughter to the World Vision’s TSFP (Targeted Supplementary Feeding programme) nutrition facility that is run by a local national organisation where she was immediately admitted. After diagnosis Suado’s MUAC (Middle Upper Arm Circumference) was found to be at 12.0cm and she was immediately admitted at the centre.  Suado regularly visited the TSFP centre for three months and her health greatly improved. Her MAUC rose from 12.0cm to 14.0cm and she was successfully discharged from the facility on the 22nd of March, 2015.

“I did not have any knowledge on nutrition but through TSFP I was advised on the importance of nutrition. Now am able to monitor my daughter’s health and provide her with a balanced diet. I also breastfeed her and I can see the improvement on her health. I am very happy to see my daughter in a better health than before,” beams Kadijo.  

World Vision Somalia implemented WFP food targeted supplementary feeding programme (TSFP) in the district in three regions-Bay, Gedo and Baool in Southern Somalia. TSFP is a health and nutrition programme to help curb malnutrition in World Vision Somalia targeted areas in collaboration with partners and local non-governmental organisation.
