Opening of new village water system celebrated

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Over 420 people in the suco of Leo Lima, a collection of small villages in the western district of Bobonaro, will benefit from a new water system that was opened on 26 June.

Finding sources of clean water, especially during the dry season, is an age-old problem in rural Timor-Leste. The new system will deliver fresh water through nine taps distributed throughout the villages.

Guests at the colourful opening ceremony included visitors from the capital Dili, four hours' drive away. They included Mr Toshihide Kawasaki from the Embassy of Japan in Timor-Leste who represented project funders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
