World Vision International in Vietnam will invest around two million US dollars to improve life quality of poor children and communities in Hung Yen province. World Vision and Hung Yen’s local government has officially signed the agreement to operate the 5-year Area Development Programme, from 2015 to 2020, in World Vision Vietnam’s Hanoi Office in 24 September.

Accordingly, World Vision will be implementing the long-term Area Development Programme with five main projects in Tien Lu district, including Education, Health (improving nutrition for children aged 0-5), Livelihoods (raising income for poor households who have children aged 0-5, through market-oriented agricultural development approach), Capacity building and Child Sponsorship. Four targeted districts include Cuong Chinh, Minh Phuong, Le Xa and Trung Dung.

Besides, World Vision will continue to operate the Micro Finance Unit (MFU) which was started in Hung Yen city and Kim Dong, Phu Cu and Tien Lu districts since 2006. So far, the MFU has disbursed around seven million US dollars to over 17,000 turns of people for them to develop their husbandry and small businesses.  As a result, 7,000 local children have had access to better education, nutrition and health care.

World Vision started its activities in Hung Yen in 1990. In Tien Lu district particularly, World Vision operated the Area Development Programme, with the budget of nearly three million US dollars and the MFU, over one million US dollars, from 2011 to 2015, contributing to improve life quality of nearly 80,000 local children and people.
