Thanh Hoa: World Vision’s Lang Chanh Programming, in cooperation with the district Association for the Support of the People with Diasbilities and Orphans, organised a workshop in response to Vietnam Day of Persons with Disabilities on April 18.

At the event, people with disabilities and their families talked about their difficulties and challenges. They also put forward recommendations to local authorities in the hope of better support for their integration into the society.

“Many teenagers and adults who have disabilities want to find a job to assist their families in my community. I hope the association and other organisations will provide them with vocational training,” says Do Quoc Hai, a local whose child is disabled.

Children with disabilities received gifts from World Vision and local authorities at the workshop in Lang Chanh.

Leaders of the district confirmed they would take action on the received suggestions. “We’ll focus on vocational orientation and training for both people with disabilities and orphans, so that they can have an independent and confident life,” says Nguyen Xuan Hong, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee cum Head of Project Management Board.

“This is the first time the workshop has been organised at district level,” he adds. “This is an opportunity for in-charge people to share their experiences and seek proper measures to assist the unlucky children.”

More than 8,000 children are expected to benefit from Lang Chanh's activities between 2015 and 2018, of which, 70 are those with disabilities.
