Lack of access to financial services is a barrier that traps people in poverty.

World Vision helps break down these barriers by providing microfinance, including micro-loans, savings accounts and small-scale insurance services in 41 countries.

Most microfinance clients are women that reside in areas where World Vision is already doing other community development work.

When a small business flourishes, the additional income helps parents to better the lives of their children.

Thus, microfinance serves as just one part of an overall approach to helping families and communities to help themselves.

You can help provide loans to entrepreneurs by donating. Every dollar donated to World Vision's microfinance programmes can be multiplied four to seven times, and then recycled to multiple borrowers. That is the multiplying power of microfinance.

The following World Vision donor countries support microfinance initiatives. Click on your home country to donate:

If you live in another donor country, please consider sponsoring a child or giving through the gift catalogue.
