Annual Review

Donors have put their trust in World Vision since 1950. Today, millions of people around the world help us raise more than two billion US dollars per year to fight poverty and injustice.

World Vision is one of two international non-governmental organisations to receive top rating in One World Trust's 2006 Global Accountability Report (PDF 1.05 Mb), which surveys ten different organisations each year. The report measures transparency with donors, participation with the public, evaluation and measurement of programmes, and complaint and response mechanisms. In addition, we undergo local independent accreditation in countries where that is available.

World Vision subscribes to a number of international codes of conduct that set standards and benchmarks for governance, management, partnership and accountability. These include the International NGO Accountability Charter (see our 2008 compliance report [PDF: 2.86 Mb]), the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Response Programmes, the Sphere Project (Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response) and Humanitarian Accountability Partnership Principles of Accountability.

World Vision is also an active participant in the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) and the Emergency Capacity Building Project (ECB).

In addition, World Vision International reports on a voluntary basis on our management and governance structure and other important operating details so that donors and other stakeholders can review our policies and activities each year.
