Water flows to combat Zimbabwe food shortages

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Drought in Zimbabwe has left around 2.8 million people not knowing where their next meal is coming from. Over 7,000 children have been treated for acute malnutrition in the first six months of 2016. Few households have any cereal reserves for consumption and children, particularly girls, are dropping out of school to help fetch water and food according to the United Nations. World Vision has constructed an irrigation project in the Lupane district, that flows from the nearby Makhovhula dam.
