As the conflict in Syria continues, hundreds of thousands of refugees have made the difficult decision to try to reach Europe using dangerous routes over land and sea. For many, their route brings them through Serbia, with most travelling by foot. Few refugees carry more than the clothes on their backs.
Since September 2015, World Vision has been providing support for those transiting through Serbia, a large percentage of whom are refugees from Syria and Iraq. We're providing life-saving supplies like water, food, blankets and warm clothes. We're also assisting women with young children at the Serbia borders with Croatia, Hungary and Macedonia. Our primary concern is the protection of children, especially those travelling on their own.
