Recycling Garbage into Something Useful

Pilling up the garbage become one of the problems in a modern era, especially the product with plastic material. The worst issue is, the plastic garbage would be decomposed over the years later. That is why human need the solution to solve the problem. By giving the knowledge and engagement to children, the problem could be so solved soon.

With people in Surabaya, East Java, Wahana Visi Indonesia Simokerto Area Program taking the part to plant the love of environment for children by doing Birthday Bounce Back (BBB) activity. The activity involved the children (6-9 yo) to recycle the garbage around their home into something useful.  WVI also asked Karang Taruna and Sahabat Anak Simokerto (SAS) to join the activity.

Sheyna (10yo) as one of the sponsored child said that she is happy to involve in BBB event.

“I am glad to have a chance to make a vase from the used bottle. I thought it was hard at the first time, fortunately, I got the support from SAS. So that my friends and I could finish what we have done,” said Sheyna.

Sheyna made the recycle bottle and used it for stationary equipment and vase. She also draws the bottle with Pokemon anime icon. Same with Sheyna, another child from SAS also made a pencil case, frog, spoon, mini fan, photo frame and cars toys.

Safrina, one of Sheyna’s friend also presented her work to the crowd of BBB participants.

“This pencil case is made easily. You just need to look for used drink bottle around you. With doing bottle recycle, you already decrease the garbage and save the environment,” said her.  

Joined the BBB event, the children are asked to be more creative and sensitive to their surrounding environment. They are learned to create their own toys without buying or spending money.
