Complementing its ongoing trainiZoom Meeting USPng in building the capacities of the Unified Student Parliament (USP) members, World Vision Jerusalem – West Bank – Gaza (JWG), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, implemented several trainings for members of the USP, including four trainings held online during the spread of #COVID19.

The first training focused on the issue of peer support during emergency events, where the training aimed to raise awareness of the members of the USP on the psychological and social effects of emergency events such as the coronavirus crisis.

The second training was on gathering and advocacy, where it aimed to develop participants' information on this topic and how to lead campaigns to defend children's rights.

The third training was on “psychological first aid for children”, which aimed to provide participants with skills and knowledge on how they can provide first psychological aid to children and their families during crisis. The training had indeed an effect on changing the knowledge and information of the participants on this topic, as this was evident from the answers to the form that World Vision JWG gives before and after the training.

"Through this training I learned various strategies for how to support my friends and classmates when they are going through physiological issues and need me," said Juman, a member of the USP.

USP - video training
During the fourth final training, members of the USP were trained on how to produce short videos, which they use as part of their initiatives and campaigns to raise awareness on issues related to the rights and protection of children.

At the end of each training, participants expressed the great benefit they gained from these trainings. The results of the pre and post questionnaires showed that approximately 75 percent of the participants increased their knowledge and skills on the topics they took. As for the outputs of these trainings, it was agreed to implement several initiatives in order for the members of the USP to provide the knowledge they obtained from these trainings to other children.
