Gildan recently signed an 18-month long partnership with World Vision Bangladesh to support the economic empowerment of women. The main objective is to provide training to couple workers to enhance their ability on financial literacy and manage their personal finances. The project has two phases and will cover up to 1000 couples with a project funding of USD $52,000.

The project focuses on the development of G.A.B. LIMITED’s female employees, specifically through financial training in an effort to reduce gender gaps and promote gender equality for a fair, inclusive and sustainable growth. This includes addressing a wide range of issues impacting girls and boys, such as poverty reduction, children’s education, and child marriage. This partnership between World Vision Bangladesh and G.A.B. LIMITED is part of a collaborative effort to address the impacts of gender inequality and strengthen women empowerment at workplace.

Claudia Sandoval, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship at Gildan says, “Drawing confidence from this successful partnership with World Vision, we now hope to make similar developments in our Bangladesh community by enabling women to take more ownership of their finances and heighten their capacity to be independent.”

Suresh Bartlett, National Director of World Vision Bangladesh says, “Through this collaboration, we hope to enable women to take better care of their children and families. This is the first engagement of World Vision Bangladesh in the RMG sector here in the country and I hope through this process we can work to empower and equip more women. World Vision in all its work is in the business of empowering women in communities all over the country. Through this experience, we hope that both organisations can build successful and long-term partnerships in the future as well.
