Cooking for Children

Most of the chefs are women, but not in Indonesia, especially in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara. Kloangpopot Village is one of the places whose has a man chef.

Emilianus Buluk (25 years old), known as Emil, is a Kloangpopot villager who has a talent as a chef. He has been involving in help Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) at Sikka operational office since several years ago by serving meals for children. Emil finished his school in culinary majors and opened the catering service in his village. 

At the time he started, Emil only had a minim capital (about IDR 500,000) to open the business. He helps WVI  as a vendor and joins with WVI to serve the best food for children in Sikka. Not only serves the best food, he also provides the good administration, so that he can prove his professionalism in business.

Emil also has a knowledge about child protection as a basis for him collaborated with WVI. By gaining that information, Emil committed to taking care of the children of his village and served them more foods with high nutrition.

“Cooking is my hobby, but what I did is for serving the children,” said Emil proud.
