Protection of Children

As a Child Focused organization, World Vision seeks to ensure children are protected from abuse.

With 31 percent of girls married or pregnant before the age of 18 in Zambia, World Vision has been proactively addressing child marriage issues at household, community, and national levels.

Considerable work has been undertaken with Traditional Leaders.

Birth Registration of children is extremely low in Zambia less than 15 percent. Over the past two years World Vision has supported over 15,000 children to obtain their birth registration. Holding ones birth certificate then enables improved access to Government and legal services.

To further strengthen our child protection work, World Vision has launched a global campaign entitled “It Takes a World … to end violence against children”. This campaign in Zambia is seeking to reduce child marriage and is working at both community and national levels.
