More than 3.5 million people have been reached since World Vision's teams started responding to the hunger crisis in Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Still, there's more work to do. World Vision continues to be concerned that:

  • 29 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance
  • More than 6.9 million people have been forced to flee their homes
  • More than 6.9 million children are malnourished
  • 23.3 million people need water, sanitation and hygiene support

To respond, World Vision aims to provide 3 million more people with life-saving and life-changing assistance to more in the next six months.

Due to the ongoing drought and conflict, World Vision is requesting an additional US $52 million on behalf of its National Offices in Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia to reach people who urgently need emergency assistance to access food, clean water, health care, nutrition, child protection, income generating activities, shelter and education.
