World Vision is responding to a multi-country crisis in East Africa that is affecting 15 million children.

The situation is worsening in some areas, as millions of people are at increased risk of famine or catastrophe in South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia due to climate change, conflict and political instability.

In the past year, World Vision has reached 4.4 million people across Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and South Sudan with lifesaving assistance that has provided people with food and water.

The organization has also helped families:

  • Identify, address and treat child malnutrition
  • Set up latrines and learn better hygiene practices
  • Access health care facilities
  • Keep children in school
  • Develop ways to continue to earn an income and grow food
