Community involvement is key to addressing the assorted challenges faced by girls throughout their adolescence. With the COVID-19 pandemic rampaging through the country and the lockdown measures taken to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, rural girls are finding themselves further entrenched in detrimental situations such as teenage pregnancy, early marriage and gender-based violence as a result of idleness and heightened desperation.

Through community engagement under the Improving Gender Attitudes, Transition and Education outcomes (IGATE) project, out-of-school youth are equipped with functional literacy, numeracy, entrepreneurial and other vocational skills that enable transitioning to the next level of life.
