This is a World Vision East Africa Child-Friendly version of our 2024 impact report – a summary of our activities and results working with communities in East Africa.

From having nothing at home and borrowing food from nieghbours, our programme participants are receiving timely support to help combat child hunger and malnutrition. In 2024 alone, we reached 296,796 people through food distributions, cash assistance, and livelihood support programmes.

Empowering Humanitarian Practitioners with AI: World Vision’s Participation in the Integrate Project

This report presents the voices of 69 children—33 girls and 36 boys—aged 14 to 17 from 10 countries, sharing their experiences and perspectives on migration. Through consultations, they discussed key themes, including the drivers of migration, its impact on children, identity documentation, challenges in civil registration, and recommendations for strengthening civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems. The participating countries were Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

East Asia is one of the most climate-exposed and disaster-prone region. Up to 65% of children face multiple and increasingly frequent shocks, including flooding, drought, saltwater inundation, and climate-related diseases. Children and families living in poverty are disproportionately affected.

Child participation is both a process and an outcome. Children who are truly empowered to exercise self-expression, agency and voice in the development process not only contribute a critical perspective that helps strengthen community outcomes but also fulfil their fundamental child rights.

In the aftermath of the October 2023 Herat earthquake, children like Mohammad continue to carry the weight of memories from the tragedy. But in the midst of the pain, hope shines through. In World Vision’s Child-Friendly Spaces, children find more than a place to play—they discover safety, normalcy, and healing. Here, they learn life skills and find relief from the horrors they've endured. With support from World Vision Hong Kong, children like Mohammad are given the opportunity to enjoy their well-being.
