Chief Nzamane’s Chiefdom Celebrates Open Defecation Free Status
“In the past, I used to experience diarrhea frequently. On some days, the pain in my stomach was so bad that I couldn’t even walk, so I would miss class,” recalls 18-year-old Theresa, who has spent her entire life in Mphunza Village under Nzamane’s chiefdom in Zambia’s eastern province. Like many others in her community, Theresa’s village was heavily affected by waterborne diseases, impacting both children and adults.

Healing and thriving: Thousands of children take part in World Vision's Summer Camps
Over the summer, Wolrd Vision organized 73 summer camps attended by 9,400 children in the whole West Bank. The camps allowed them to have fun in safe places, forget their worries and enjoy moment of innocence. they also received mental health and psychosocial support to help them deal with stress, anxiety and trauma in these difficult times.

Empowering the People of Hatra, Ninewa, to Become Climate Resilient
In Hatra, Ninewa, dwellers of the villages suffered immensely due to the conflict of 2014 which led many families to leave their homes and lands and live in displacement. In recent years, the people of Hatra suffered one more time as the region faced drought.
Consequently, World Vision Iraq with funding from ADH launched its project, Facing the Communities’ Ability to Adapt and Face Shocks, Crises, and Climate Changes.
Through this project, we trained 75 farmers on modern agricultural methods to become climate resilient and empowered 50 women to help them learn raise bees and produce honey to become financially independent and be able to bring income to their families.

Lost and Alone- Addressing the Crisis of Unaccompanied and Separated Children in Post-Earthquakes Northwest Syria and Southern Türkiye
This report presents the findings from a unique piece of research conducted by World Vision Syria Response in Northwest Syria (NWS) and Southern Türkiye. It is the first of its kind to specifically explore how the February 2023 earthquakes in the region have impacted unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and who were separated from their families during the disasters. The study brings together the diverse perspectives and experiences of caregivers, community members and most importantly, Syrian UASC in some of the worst earthquakes-affected areas. The report underlines the critical role of community-based alternative care systems in caring for unaccompanied and separated children and emphasises the severe gaps in existing services for children without parental care. Finally, it calls for increased prioritisation of Syrian unaccompanied and separated children in both NWS and Southern Türkiye in the overall humanitarian response to the Syrian conflict.

The research took place in five climate hotspots of the Middle East: Iraq (Ninewa Governate), Jordan (Azraq Refugee Camp), Lebanon (Akkar District), Northeastern Syria, and the West Bank in May-June 2023.
