Growing up in a family burdened by poverty and hardship, Kru Base’s early years were marked by uncertainty. Like many children in his community, he faced the grim possibility of dropping out of school.

When Vannak walks through the Svay Rumpear Health Centre in Kampong Leaeng, she does so with a deep sense of pride in how far both she and her community have come. As a leading midwife, she greets patients with warmth, guiding new mothers as they welcome their babies into the world. It’s the type of medical support that didn’t exist 20 years ago, and just one of the many interventions this community has seen thanks to sponsorship.

Across schools in Oljoro No. 5, a lack of desks forced students to sit on dusty floors—leading to dirty uniforms, poor handwriting, and frequent illness. With World Vision’s support, 200 desks were delivered to six schools, reaching over 800 students. Now, children sit with dignity, attend regularly, and embrace learning with renewed hope and motivation.

In a bold effort to promote gender equality and improve the lives of young girls in rural Zambia, World Vision Zambia has officially launched #TheFlowFund, an innovative initiative dedicated to providing access to quality reusable sanitary towels. The campaign aims to raise K700,000 by December 2025, with the goal of reaching 5,000 girls and helping to break the stigma surrounding menstruation in communities across the country.
