Building Climate‑Adaptive Solutions through Inclusive Market Networks (BASIN) is a four‑year regional initiative (2025–2029) funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Mekong–Australia Partnership. Implemented by a World Vision–led consortium, the project supports smallholder farmers in Cambodia’s Kratie Province to adapt to climate change through inclusive and climate‑smart agri‑food systems. Focusing on cashew and vegetable value chains, BASIN aims to improve household incomes, strengthen women’s and marginalized groups’ participation and leadership, and generate evidence to inform regional learning and policy dialogue across the Mekong sub‑region.

For decades, the children and families of Jang—a farming community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region—struggled with limited access to clean water, relying on unsafe sources that exposed them to waterborne diseases and daily hardship. But returned after World Vision Ghana and partner, GIZ commissioned a solar-powered mechanised water system.

Children in Nyawa District, Southern Province, continue to face risks of violence, neglect, and limited access to safe, child-friendly reporting systems, challenges that are often worsened when their perspectives are not included in community decision-making. To address this, World Vision Zambia facilitated a multi-stakeholder meeting at the Nyawa Palace, bringing together children, civic leaders, men, and women to collaboratively develop Child-Protection By-Laws.

Traditional leaders across the Southern Province are collaborating with health partners to enhance the nutrition of pregnant women and safeguard the health of their babies. This comes at a time when maternal nutrition remains a concern. The 2024 Zambia Demographic and Health Survey shows that anaemia affects about one in five women of reproductive age. The survey also highlights ongoing micronutrient deficiencies among women and children, especially in rural areas. Poor nutrition during pregnancy increases the risk of illness for mothers and affects a child’s growth from the very beginning. These findings show why practical solutions and strong partnerships at the community level are needed.
