World Vision Romania

Twenty years after the fall of communism, Romania still lacks adequate social services, including education, health and child protection and the gap between urban and rural poor continues to grow. Often left behind, Roma children miss out on schooling while in villages across the country, one in four children does not attend high school because of limited resources. Disillusioned young people search for a better life abroad – a promise made to them by ‘businessmen’ that are actually traffickers. Romania’s infant mortality rate is double that of the EU average.
