Syrian refugees flee violence and face a harsh winter in Lebanon

Thursday, January 8, 2015

As countries across the Middle East brace for another harsh winter, millions of children and families displaced by the Syrian crisis face even tougher conditions, as a snowstorm sweeping through the region claims lives.

These pictures are taken in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley where families who have already fled from violence must now protect themselves from the cold.

World Vision has provided cash assistance to people living in tented settlements and unfinished buildings to help them prepare for winter conditions. Other vulnerable communities have received blankets, winter clothing, plastic sheeting, mattresses and gas heaters.
