Zika Virus Response in Brazil

Friday, February 12, 2016

Recently, the World Vision Brazil staff had a preventive visit in Córrego do Jenipapo community, northen region, searching for information on the vulnerable situation of diseases caused by zika (Aedes Aegypti). Our staff identified several places of possible transmission, such as standing water points, open sewage and trash containers in not appropriated places like streets, sidewalks and water canals. During the upcoming months of April and May, with increased rainfall and the precariousness of basic sanitation, the most vulnerable communities could become perfect breeding grounds for the mosquito larvae. World Vision is working with the communities in preventive actions to protect women and children as well as the most vulnerable communities.
