World Vision is providing much needed support to more than 10,000 people staying in evacuation centres in Honiara and Guadalcanal Province following flash floods that left thousands homeless in early April 2014.  World Vision is working closely with the National Disaster Management Office, Honiara City Council and the Guadalcanal Provincial Government to respond to the disaster.

World Vision, in partnership with Red Cross, ADRA, Oxfam and Save the Children, is distributing relief items such as blankets, mosquito nets, clean drinking water, clothing, temporary shelter and hygiene kits to assist people staying in evacuation centres.

World Vision is also supporting evacuation centres with Water and Sanitation & Hygiene activities and is establishing Child Friendly Spaces in communities and selected evacuation centres to provide a safe place and sense of normalcy for the many children affected.
