Kariobangi Youth Livelihood Project

Kariobangi Youth Livelihood Project operates in Kariobangi and Korogocho wards in Kasarani Sub County, Nairobi County. It is about 15 kilometers to the north of the city center of Nairobi. According to 2009 census report, the area has a population of 81,288 people within 2.0 square kilometer. This results to a high population density of 40,644 per square kilometer. Large numbers of people living in these areas are youth aged between 15 -30 years. The area is prone to high levels of insecurities, lack of water, insufficient disposal of solid and liquid waste, lack of employment and numerous local brews that are potentially lethal. As a result of the above, human right violations have been on the increase and at the same time HIV prevalence rates continue to be on the rise.

The Kariobangi Youth Livelihood Project works to benefit 300 youth for increased employability within Kariobangi and Korogocho areas. To achieve this, the project has partnered with local CBOs and FBOs to identify and monitor the youth.
