World Vision relief efforts continue for Hanuabada fire survivors

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

Another 24 families from Hanuabada, whose homes were partially burnt or destroyed from the recent Hanuabada Village fire, received assistance from World Vision on Friday. This is the second batch of distribution following World Vision PNG’s first batch of distribution to 18 families a week earlier.

Families received hygiene, sanitation, and other health items including collapsible jerry cans, first aid kit, blankets, laundry and bathing soap, comb, towels, toilet roll, sanitary pads for women and girls and large packing bag.

A resident of a home partially burnt said that such donations are what they really need.

World Vision PNG implements the Hanuabada Water and Healthy Life Project, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and supported by World Vision New Zealand.

The project is also working with the community and partners and is preparing for its’ major annual village clean-up at the end of this month.
