Carolina is a mother, one of many who, in the context of the emergency, has been working to get around the challenging situation she finds herself in. Aged 42 and with her five children, she lives in the community of Bata-Bata, Humpata municipality in Huíla. In the short rainy season that is recorded in the south, Carolina works on her small plot, and in the dry season, which is most of the seasonal period, she does informal jobs to make ends meet for her children. The short rainy season is not enough for planting to be prosperous, and with the economic crisis worsening in the country, families are seeing episodes of food shortages become increasingly dramatic.

Access to water and sanitation sees 50% increase in school's enrolment
Khalakahle Methodist Primary School in Mpolonjeni, under the Lubombo Region in Eswatini, lacked access to basic necessities such as access to clean water, learners and teachers were not so keen to be part of the school. With Mpolonjeni Area Programme having achieved universal access to safe water under World Vision Eswatini's support, the school has seen a change in this area, with enrolment growing from just over 300 to over 450.

School canteens stirring school performance and reducing dropouts in Nyanza-Lac commune
World Vision Burundi through “Komezawige project” that is funded by Education Cannot Wait programme is providing hot meals to school children in Makamba province, South of Burundi.
The support is bringing back hope to boys and girls who were finding it hard to have meals at lunch time in their homes. It is also contributing to improving school performance and enhancing school retention.
