Children have a right to a clean, safe and healthy environment!
The Committee on the Rights of the Child just issued their General Comment 26 on children’s rights and the environment with a focus on climate change (GC26). It confirms that States must protect the right of every child to a clean, safe and healthy environment as a matter of their legal obligations under the Convention of the Rights of the Child. More than 16,300 children from 121 countries gave their input. One of them was Yael Feliz, a World Vision Youth Advocate from the Dominican Republic. San, a physically challenged girl, joined over 450 children in Sierra Leone to choose her potential sponsor. World Vision International Sierra Leone organised a special Chosen event in Mongo and Delmayadu. It was not only about sponsorship, but also about "the joy of changing the lives of vulnerable children".
