FULFILLING OUR COMMITMENT TO THE MOST VULNERABLE CHILDREN
The year 2024 has been challenging but fruitful as World Vision Tanzania embarked on a new journey to improve the lives of children through various innovative interventions.
As a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, in 2024 we have continued to collaborate with families, communities, local, national, and global partners, as well as a range of other stakeholders.
It has been a journey of 44 years working in Tanzania, and to date, we have supported children to play an active role within their families, enriching and transforming their lives to be full of promise and hope.

World Vision Tanzania
Tanzania has seen strong economic growth in the past decade, but high population growth has kept the absolute number of people in poverty high. Children continue to face serious challenges, including violence, malnutrition, inadequate healthcare, and poor access to education. The country also deals with ongoing issues like natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and a large refugee population—over 250,000 people, mainly in Kigoma Region.
Since 1981, World Vision Tanzania (WVT) has become one of the country’s largest humanitarian organizations, now operating in 44 districts across 16 of the 31 regions. WVT aims to improve the lives of 15 million children, focusing especially on the most vulnerable.
WVT is nearing the completion of its 2021–2025 strategy, targeting 3.2 million children through programs in five core sectors: Livelihoods, Health & Nutrition, WASH, Child Protection, and Education. Cross-cutting priorities include faith and development, climate change, gender equality, disability inclusion, and advocacy.
Its approach centers on four strategic pathways: mindset transformation, social behavior change, economic empowerment, and system strengthening—designed to build household resilience, shift community norms, and improve service delivery.
