Life is hard. Pray for rains.

My name is Mohamud Mohammed.

As you can see I am a camel keeper. We came here early morning and we hope to return before the sun breaks – it is a hot day.

My home is 15 kilometres away – so this not my neighbourhood. I came here because wells in my village have dried up. We are in trouble and people have scattered to different directions in search of water.

My animals are still healthy but do not be cheated that they will remain healthy with such long travels. Give them another week and you will see dead animals or many in very poor health.

If this well dries up, the next one is 40km away. I could be luck to get some of the camels there but not many will make it. The goats that I left at home are weak and will definitely die.

What I am sad about is that I have worked hard to recover from the losses of the cyclone that killed most of my livestock a few years ago. I pray everyday that God protect us from another disaster.

We are hungry. Few people here are lucky to have one meal in a day. It is very hard.
