World Vision began working in Zambia in 1981 in Mkushi district, and we are a Zambian Non-Government Organization with a local Board of Directors. World Vision has a vast reach in Zambia, with long-term development projects called Area Programmes and short-term grant-funded projects spread across the country nationwide. World Vision Zambia implements development projects in the following key areas: health and nutrition; livelihoods and resilience; education; child protection; disaster management; and water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH).

DR Congo: After years without water, World Vision intervenes to give water to the inhabitants of Ishasha
This article shows the start of water catchment work to provide the community of Ishasha with drinking water. This initiative is being carried out through the CHR. More than 1,900 residents will have access to drinking water after years without it. The project will have a major impact, as it will save children from water-borne diseases.

Technical Brief: WASH Business Centres
Because of challenges with water point functionality and low rates of basic household sanitation (7%) and hygiene (8%), World Vision Ethiopia introduced WASH Business Centres (WBCs), a one stop center for production, distribution, and sale of essential products for constructing WASH facilities (e.g., latrine slabs) and performing key behaviors (e.g., liquid soap for handwashing).
