Children & youth at the forefront of sustainable food systems transformation

Follow youth ambassador Diarraye (18) at the Africa Food Systems Forum, where she carried a clear message: every child deserves enough nutritious food to grow, learn and thrive. Her role at the forum was not only to share her lived experience, but also to highlight practical, community-led solutions that strengthen nutrition, climate resilience and food systems, while calling for greater investment in children and young people.

World Vision Senegal

World Vision is an international humanitarian organization whose vision is to help create a world in which every child has the opportunity to live a full life, to develop and fulfil his or her potential.

It has been active in Senegal since 1984.

In its approach to development, World Vision Senegal works with children, families and communities. We fight for children's access to healthcare, education, food, water, and their rights and well-being.

World Vision actively participates in emergency response and assists communities affected by natural disasters or conflict.

World Vision Senegal's activities cover regardless of social or religious background. the areas of Diourbel, Fatick, Kaffrine, Kedougou, Kolda, Koungheul, Missirah, Oussouye, Salemata, Saraya, Sedhiou, Tanaff, Vélingara and Ziguinchor.

We aim to increase the number of children who have positive and peaceful relationships with their families and communities. It aims to help more kids get education, care, and protection from violence, exploitation, discrimination, abuse, and neglect. World Vision Senegal's goal is to assist children and community members in becoming stronger and recovering economically. Additionally, they strive to improve the health and nutrition of children.

World Vision Senegal employs a multifaceted strategy to accomplish its strategic goals. The core of its activities is centred around these programs: Community Engagement and Sponsorship, Enhancement of Education, Child Safety and Involvement, Enhancement of Maternal and Child Health, and Enhancement of Livelihood Resilience.

Our Areas of Focus

World Vision Senegal utilizes different approaches in its programs.

These approaches include Child Protection, Citizen Voice, Paths of Hope, Celebrating Families, and Saving for Transformation. We advocate for children's rights by giving them a say in decision-making. This ensures that we make decisions with their best interests in mind, and support vulnerable groups in their transformation through training and empowerment of women in rural areas.
