#NotJustFoodkh, but the right food - Photo contest in Cambodia

Saturday, November 8, 2014

Up to 40% of children in Cambodia are malnourished -- a fact the Instagram users in Cambodia wish the change. Instagrammers joined Child Health Now Cambodia and World Vision Cambodia in raising awareness for the fight against child malnutrition in the country through an social media photo contest #notjustfoodkh.

To spread the word about the competition and explain the rules, Cambodia's famous TV host Vy Yaro was featured in the contest video: "Many people think to solve malnutriiton you just need to eat more food. But no, it's not just about food. So join us to tell thousands of Cambodians that good nutrition is not just about eating enough food. Take action by joining our photo contest #notjustfoodkh."

Photos are inspired by advocacy efforts or things that can help prevent and improve malnutrition like breastfeeding and clean water. A Facebook app on the World Vision Cambodia Facebook Page collected the uploaded photos and encouraged users to share about their submission.

The contest ran from 28 July-28 October before announcing its three winners who won photography-inspired prizes.
