Every child learns

A world with education for all

Despite significant progress in increasing access to education in East Asia over the past two decades, these achievements have been at risk of being eroded because of the lingering economic impact of COVID-19. Children with disabilities, from ethnic minority groups, those impacted by disaster, or those affected by migration, encounter even greater barriers to quality education.

To address these issues, World Vision’s education programming is focused on improving access to quality education for marginalised and vulnerable children. This includes initiatives such as improving school infrastructure, supporting teaching methods, promoting early childhood development, ensuring safe learning environments, and responding to education needs in emergencies. These improvements are achieved through our core project models such as Unlock Literacy to improve reading skills, Learning Roots to enhance early childhood education and development outcomes, and Citizen Voice and Action to promote accountability in government service delivery.

Our approach to quality education for all

Learning Roots

Learning Roots is a play-based learning approach that supports the holistic development of children from age three through six. Learning Roots lays the foundation for a successful transition to primary school and life-long learning. It engages caregivers so that they can provide nurturing care while working with schools and teachers in local early child development centres to safe, playful learning environments. At a systemic level, it seeks to foster sustainable support for children by working with local and national networks.

Unlock Literacy

Globally, 70% of children in low and middle-income countries live in learning poverty, and even if they attend school, are not able to read and understand a simple text. Unlock Literacy is World Vision's evidence-based approach to ensuring children, especially the most vulnerable, read with comprehension and develop a love of learning, working in partnership with children, their families, communities, teachers, schools, and education systems.

Citizen Voice & Action

This World Vision’s unique approach to social accountability and local advocacy is designed to improve the relationship between communities and government in order to improve services that impact the daily lives of children and their families. With respect to education, this can influence the construction and upgrade of education facilities that are child-, disability- and gender-sensitive while providing safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments for all.
