World Vision Afghanistan Country Brief - FY23
World Vision Afghanistan has been responding to needs of Afghan children and their families for over two decades.
Our operations are focused in three western and one north-western provinces of Afghanistan providing the most vulnerable children with health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and livelihoods, protection and education assistance.
Between October 2022 and September 2023, over 2.9 million people, including 1.3 million children participated in our different interventions.

Somalia braces for a sixth season of poor rains, risk of famine; amidst fears of reduction in funding
At least 6.5 million people across Somalia will struggle to find food and therefore be exposed to hunger and malnutrition beginning April to June, due to the impacts of: five consecutive seasons of poor rains, a possible sixth season of below average to poor rains, high food prices plus persistent insecurity.

Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) is Transforming Landscapes: A case study of Somaliland
Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) is a low-cost land restoration technique used to combat poverty and hunger amongst subsistence farmers. It can reverse desertification, increase food, water and commodity production, and build resilience to climate extremes. It almost sounds too good to be true, but it is very real. The special ingredients are passing the knowledge to local communities, mobilising the message and transferring the skills in language they can understand, by people they can trust.

Kay's journey: Overcoming challenges and leading community development
40-year-old Kay lives with her family and is pregnant with her second child while raising her 7-year-old son. Despite being disabled since birth, Kay found support from her family and became actively engaged with World Vision Myanmar after Cyclone Nargis in 2008.
