'Unlock Literacy' gives Alpha a boost
Ten-year-old Alpha is in Primary 3 and is one of thousands of children that attend World Vision’s reading camps rolling out the Unlock Literacy model. Two years ago, Alpha could not speak a single word in English. He felt uncomfortable in class because he could hardly read or write. Today, he is top of his class and a confident learner. It can reverse desertification, increase food, water and commodity production, and build resilience to climate extremes. It almost sounds too good to be true, but it is very real.
