Easter event held to raise the awareness of youth about the real reason behind Easter.

Easter is celebrated in Armenia by colouring eggs and preparing a tasty rice pilaf with raisins. The holiday is celebrated widely across Armenia although families don’t understand the meaning behind the traditions.

Together with the Local ArmStrong Youth NGO, World Vision helped organise a public event to raise awareness among youth and kids about the reason for Easter and explain the celebrations and Church liturgy.

The five-day festival launched in a local church yard, where many of the passers-by gathered to see the colourful tree decorated with eggs and rabbits. Young activists took wooden crosses and marched in the streets. Huge white eggs were placed in the area to bring joy to children and youth, who wanted to colour them. Many local non-governmental organisations and schools brought drawings on the Easter theme, which were introduced to public, who could vote for the best painting. The event was also broadcast by local TV.
