Positive Deviance training brings positive changes

In Sri Lanka, the Postitive Deviance Hearth Programme introduces mothers of children with low weights to new methods of preparing high-nutritional meals with locally available foods. While teaching them different methods for preparing the food in an appealing way for children, they also learn about good health and hygiene practices, such as regular hand washing.

“During the first 14-day session Niduka increased by 2 kg,” smiles his mother, Chandrika, “I continued to practice the new methods of cooking at home and there was a big change in his appetite.” Niduka is a healthy baby now and has not been in the underweight range since.
